Test subject: "Tweety"
Tweety is a Myers Motors NmG that serves three purposes:
1) To conveniently carry the bulk of routine commuting.
2) As a public demonstration of electric vehicle viability.
3) As a battery management test subject for Hot Juice Electric, LLC.

Each of these services are complimentary.  For example since Tweety carries the bulk of routine commuting, lots of miles are logged for testing.  As a demonstration vehicle, Tweety is driven hard.  That is, to promote EV's, the slow, lethargic stereotype is aggressively busted.

As a result, the batteries are worked hard.  They get three, 50% to 70% DOD cycles each day (one 50% and two 70% DOD).  Each cycle includes full charge including equalization charge.

Two test packs were use during BEQ1 development:
Optima D34M, and Odyssey PC1200.

As indicated in the table below, The set of very tired Optima batteries made a remarkable improvement.
Before:  5.54 volt spread after 8 minutes with 60 Amp load.
After 180 cycles with BEQ1's:  0.6 volt spread after 9 minutes with 60 Amp load.

The table below is the results from a mixed set of old Odyssey PC1200's.
Before:  2.4 volt spread with 300 Amp load.
After 90 cycles with BEQ1’s:  0.13 volt spread with 300 Amp Load.

Note: As of December 31, 2008 this originally old mixed pack has logged over 1,000 cycles and is still driven hard and is still going strong.
